Jeffrey Best joined the Company on 1 May 2011 in the capacity of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Director in September 2011. Mr. Best has 15 years experience within the Mining sector having started his career at Phelps Dodge Mining Company in 1996 where he spent 3 years in operations, engineering and management roles and participated in various key strategic projects. Having moved to Accenture in 2001 Mr. Best provided integral input as the subject matter expert into business improvement projects and latterly he was employed as Manager, Strategy and Business Architecture up until leaving in 2004. Prior to joining Katanga Mr. Best was employed by Freeport McMoran Copper and Gold where he was assigned to the TenkeFungurume Mine operation in the DRC as Director General responsible for all operational activities. Mr. Best graduated from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology with a Bachelor of Science, Mineral Engineering in 1996 and then went on to complete a Master of Business Administration at the University of Chicago in 2001. Mr. Best had previously served six years in the United States Marine Corps.

Jacques Lubbe was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in November 2013.

Mr. Lubbe qualified as a Chartered Accountant through Ernst & Young and joined Metorex Ltd as Financial Controller in 2007. In 2010 he assumed the Finance Manager role of Ruashi Mining SPRL (Metorex Group Company in DRC). Mr. Lubbe joined Mutanda Mining SARL (DRC based subsidiary of Glencore Xstrata Plc.) in May 2011 and was promoted to CFO of Mutanda Mining SARL in September 2012. Mr. Lubbe is a Member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Johnny Blizzard joined the Company on January 5, 2015 as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Mr. Blizzard has 26 years of experience in the mining industry, his last appointment before joining Katanga as Director of Operations at Kinross Tasiast Gold Mine in Mauritania, Africa. Previously, he has worked in different positions in Brazil, Chile and the United States. Mr. Blizzard holds a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and is a Master of Engineering.
