Katanga Mining Limited's eight-person Board of Directors has a broad experience in the mining sector and strong connections in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Board is committed to corporate governance standards consistent with best practices in the natural resources sector. It has five committees: Audit; Compensation; Corporate Governance & Nominations, Health, Safety, Social & Environment and Technical Oversight, whose mandates are to support the Board in carrying out its fiduciary and supervisory responsibilities.

Hugh Stoyell's career in the South African mining industry spans more than 40 years, including 30 years with Rand Mines Limited and 10 years with Duiker Mining Limited, where he retired as Chairman and Managing Director in 2002. He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Sentula Mining Limited and caretaker Chief Operating Officer of Siyanda Coal Limited. He also acts as a consultant to various Black Economic Empowerment mining companies.
He has a BSc in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Masters of Business Leadership from UNISA. Mr. Stoyell is a registered professional engineer and a Fellow of the South African Institute of Mining & Metallurgy.
Rafael Berber is Managing Partner of RP Capital Group, a London-based investment firm he co-founded in 2004 which specializes in emerging markets. Mr. Berber formerly served as Vice Chairman of Global Capital Markets & Financing and Global Head of the Equity-Linked Products Group at Merrill Lynch, where he spent 16 years spearheading the development of the firm"s equity derivatives and emerging markets businesses.
He holds an MBA in Finance from New York University and a BA in Economics from Tel Aviv University.
Mr. Erasmus has been an executive with Glencore International AG, a leading privately held, diversified natural resources company, since 1997. He also serves as a director of Mopani Copper Mines PLC and Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corporation.
He holds an Honours degree in Finance and Accounting from Stellenbosch University and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Steven Isaacs acted as Interim CEO at Katanga Mining from October 2008 to December 2009. Mr. Isaacs has extensive experience in the copper and nickel industries having worked in senior management of Glencore International AG, for 14 years, where he was involved in acquiring, financing and managing some of the companyfs largest mining projects in Africa and Asia Pacific, including the landmark Murrin Murrin / Minara nickel project, a multi-billion dollar joint venture in Australia. He also led the internal group that acquired and managed the initial ramp-up of Mopani Copper Mine.
Aristotelis Mistakidis has been an executive with Glencore International AG, a leading privately held, diversified natural resources company, since 1993. He also serves as Chairman of Mopani Copper Mines PLC and as director of Recyclex SA (formerly Metaleurop SA).
He has a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics.
Terry Robinson has 35 years of international business experience, including as Deputy Chairman of Chapada Diamonds plc, Chief Executive and then Chairman of The Albert Fisher Group Plc, and Chief Executive of Halstead Services Ltd. He was previously a Director of Nikanor PLC. He currently serves as an independent non-executive director of EVRAZ Group SA, the largest Russian vertically integrated steel producer.
Mr. Robinson is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
John Ross, CEO and Executive Director, joined the company in May 2008 to oversee metallurgical operations and project integration and was appointed CEO in January 2010. Mr. Ross has over twenty years experience in mining and engineering, having previously worked with Rio Tinto in South Africa and the United States, Port Kembla Copper in Australia and most recently, since 2002, with Glencore companies at Mopani Copper Mines in Zambia and Mutanda y Mukonkota Sprl in the DRC. Whilst at Mopani Copper Mines, Mr. Ross was accountable for metallurgical operations and project management, specifically with regards to the Mufulira smelter and concentrator. Mr. Ross graduated from the Camborne School of Mines, UK, with a B.Eng in Minerals Engineering.
Robert Wardell also currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Allied Nevada Gold Corp., Phoenix Coal Inc., Alegro Health Corp., and Nuinsco Resources Limited. Previously Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Victory Nickel Inc., he has over 37 years of public accounting experience including 20 years as an audit partner with Deloitte & Touche in Toronto.
Mr. Wardell holds a BSc from the University of Toronto and has a chartered accountant designation.
