Katanga Mining Limited's eight-person Board of Directors has a broad experience in the mining sector and strong connections in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Board is committed to corporate governance standards consistent with best practices in the natural resources sector. It has five committees: Audit; Compensation; Corporate Governance & Nominations, Health, Safety, Social & Environment and whose mandates are to support the Board in carrying out its fiduciary and supervisory responsibilities.

Hugh Stoyell's career in the South African mining industry spans more than 40 years, including 30 years with Rand Mines Limited and 10 years with Duiker Mining Limited, where he retired as Chairman and Managing Director in 2002. He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Sentula Mining Limited and caretaker Chief Operating Officer of Siyanda Coal Limited. He also acts as a consultant to various Black Economic Empowerment mining companies.
He has a BSc in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Masters of Business Leadership from UNISA. Mr. Stoyell is a registered professional engineer and a Fellow of the South African Institute of Mining & Metallurgy.
Mr. Erasmus has been an executive with Glencore International plc, a leading privately held, diversified natural resources company, since 1997. He also serves as a director of Mopani Copper Mines PLC and Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corporation.
He holds an Honours degree in Finance and Accounting from Stellenbosch University and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Aristotelis Mistakidis has been an executive with Glencore International plc, a leading privately held, diversified natural resources company, since 1993. He also serves as Chairman of Mopani Copper Mines PLC and as director of Recyclex SA (formerly Metaleurop SA).
He has a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics.
Terry Robinson has 35 years of international business experience, including as Deputy Chairman of Chapada Diamonds plc, Chief Executive and then Chairman of The Albert Fisher Group Plc, and Chief Executive of Halstead Services Ltd. He was previously a Director of Nikanor PLC. He currently serves as an independent non-executive director of EVRAZ Group SA, the largest Russian vertically integrated steel producer.
Mr. Robinson is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
Jeffrey Best joined the Company on 1 May 2011 in the capacity of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Director in September 2011. Mr Best has 15 years experience within the Mining sector having started his career at Phelps Dodge Mining Company in 1996 where he spent 3 years in operations, engineering and management roles and participated in various key strategic projects. Having moved to Accenture in 2001 Mr Best provided integral input as the subject matter expert into business improvement projects and latterly he was employed as Manager, Strategy and Business Architecture up until leaving in 2004. Prior to joining Katanga Mr Best was employed by Freeport McMoran Copper and Gold where he was assigned to the TenkeFungurume Mine operation in the DRC as Director General responsible for all operational activities. Mr Best graduated from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology with a Bachelor of Science, Mineral Engineering in 1996 and then went on to complete a Master of Business Administration at the University of Chicago in 2001. Mr Best had previously served six years in the United States Marine Corps.
Robert Wardell also currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Allied Nevada Gold Corp., Phoenix Coal Inc., Alegro Health Corp., and Nuinsco Resources Limited. Previously Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Victory Nickel Inc., he has over 37 years of public accounting experience including 20 years as an audit partner with Deloitte & Touche in Toronto.
Mr. Wardell holds a BSc from the University of Toronto and has a chartered accountant designation.
