Katanga Mining announces appointment of new CEO

ZUG, SWITZERLAND, September 22, 2011 – Katanga Mining Limited (TSX: KAT) ("Katanga" or the "Company") announced today that Mr. Jeffrey Best, the Company's Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Company to succeed Mr. John Ross as Chief Executive Officer and Director. As announced on August 5, 2011, Mr. Ross resigned to pursue other opportunities which will allow him to spend more time with his family. Mr. Ross will remain available to assist in an orderly transition.
